Llandudno is a beautiful seaside town in Wales that offers a range of exciting attractions and activities for visitors. Fans of literature will appreciate that the town was said to have inspired Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. It is said that he drew inspiration from the town’s scenery, specifically the promenade and pier, as well as the nearby Great Orme limestone headland. You can explore the town’s connection to Alice in Wonderland by visiting the Happy Valley Gardens, which feature a bronze statue of Alice and the White Rabbit, as well as various references to the book scattered throughout the gardens.
Travel Tips
Llandudno’s beaches are primarily rocky, but there is a small sandy beach near the Pier.
There are parking spaces along the coastal road near Pier ( limited in number and often full, but can be considered if it’s not peak time ).
Away from the Pier in the direction of Llandudno Bay, there are also some Pay& Display car parks in Retail Parks, but they are a bit further away from Pier by foot (prox 15min walk)
There is a large car park on the top of the Great Orme, usually with plenty of spaces.
You can consider parking at the top of the Great Orme and then take either the tram or cable car to go down and up respectively, experiencing both and enjoying the different scenic views. From the tram or cable car station, you can also walk to the pier or the beach, where there are many food options and fun fair rides.
