The Iron Bridge

The Iron Bridge is the world’s first cast-iron bridge, located in Shropshire, England. It is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution and the innovation that was taking place in the late 18th century.

The surrounding area, known as the Ironbridge Gorge, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visitors can explore several museums and exhibits that showcase the area’s industrial heritage.

  • the Museum of Iron ( Coach Rd, Coalbrookdale, Telford TF8 7DQ )
  • the Museum of the Gorge ( 32 Wharfage, Ironbridge, Telford TF8 7NH )

We always park our car in the Ironbridge Car Park ( 5 Ladywood, Ironbridge, Telford TF8 7JR ) which is next to the bridge and have many spaces.

From the car park, walk towards this famous Iron Bridge and admire its ornate iron railing, the views on both sides and the rushing river below.

After crossing the bridge, you’ll find a row of various shops along the street, including cafes, restaurants, craft shops, an antique bookstore, a beautiful toy shop, a charity shop and more.

If you have time, take a stroll along the river and return from the hillside to complete a walking trail loop.
